Behind the Scenes: Preparing for Lift-Out Season at Hamble Point Yacht Charters

Behind the Scenes

As the charter season draws to a close, life ashore gets busier than ever for our team at Hamble Point Yacht Charters. Autumn marks the start of lift-out season — a time when careful planning, teamwork, and plenty of elbow grease come together to prepare our fleet for winter maintenance.

With around 20 yachts under our care, it’s no small task. Each boat has her own schedule, owner preferences, and maintenance plan, making this one of the most complex — and crucial — parts of our year.

Coordinating 20 Yachts, 20 Schedules

Because every yacht in our fleet is privately owned and managed on behalf of her owner, no two boats follow the same timeline. Some owners prefer to lift early for major works, while others stay afloat for those final late-season charters.

Our job is to balance it all — planning lift and relaunch dates, securing space in the yard, and coordinating with riggers, engineers, and surveyors to keep everything running smoothly. While one yacht comes out, another goes back in, ensuring we always have a selection of boats ready for guests right up to the end of the season.

Ready for Winter Work

Once a yacht is safely ashore, the real transformation begins. From full hull inspections and antifouling to polishing, cleaning, and minor repairs, every boat gets the attention she needs to stay in top condition.

We’ve been busy stocking up on supplies so we can hit the ground running:

  • •Antifoul paints, primers, and rollers

  • •Protective suits, masks, and gloves

  • •Cleaning and polishing materials

  • •And even toothbrushes — perfect for those tiny, hard-to-reach corners that deserve just as much care as the rest of the hull!

Planning Makes Perfect

Smooth running depends on solid preparation. Before the first lift, we check and service every pressure washer, ladder, power cable, and tool to ensure nothing slows us down. Over the next few months, our team will be out in all weathers sanding, scrubbing, and polishing — getting each yacht ready to shine again when spring 2026 arrives.

Keeping the Fleet Shipshape

Lift-out season might not have the glamour of summer sailing, but it’s the backbone of what we do. Every brushstroke and polish today means a gleaming, reliable yacht ready to set sail next season.

And if you have your own yacht moored along the Hamble River, we can help you keep her in top condition too. From one-off maintenance and cleaning to full annual service packages, our experienced team offers a range of support options to help you take care of your boat — whether she’s in the water or ashore.

So even as the pontoons fall quiet for winter, plenty is happening behind the scenes — careful planning, hands-on hard work, and an unwavering commitment to keeping the Hamble Point Yacht Charters fleet in perfect condition for another great year on the water.
